中文 I am 48 years old, a Christian, husband, father, church elder, & engineer. I have suffered from bipolar II, a type of major depression, for more than 34 years, and was only diagnosed as such in November, 2010. I was downsized this April (2011) after working diligently and faithfully for the company for 15 years. But God has used that to bless me with closer fellowship with Him, my wife, my kids, and my church. With medication, prayers, and support from my family and brothers and sisters in Christ, I have basically recovered. I have dedicated myself to the ministry of helping those are suffering from depression, either directly as patients or indirectly as family members and friends. I started blogging in May, and Chinese blogging in July. There is a great need in China to break social stigma so people can get proper professional help. So I started this bilingual Internet site to educate people about depression.

There are about 20 million Americans who are suffering from depression from all walks of the society. Even though most of them can be successfully treated, but ignorance and stigmas have prevented them from seeking professional help. There is no statistics in China, but 10% of population (i.e. 1.4 billion) is a conservative estimate. The situation there is much worse regarding stigmas and societal ignorance.

我今年48岁，是基督徒、丈夫、父亲、教会长老、和工程师。我深受躁郁症（严重抑郁症的一种）之苦有34年多，但直到2010年的11月才确诊是此病。我在今年4月被裁员，主要是抑郁症造成的业绩不够上司满意。但是，神却用这个机会让我跟祂、我太太、孩子、还有教会的弟兄姊妹有更亲密的团契。通过医药、祷告、和家人与主内弟兄姊妹的支持，我现在基本恢复。我已决定献身与帮助抑郁症患者和亲友的事工。我从五月起开始写英语博文，七月起开始写中文博文。在中国急需要打破对于抑郁症的偏见，让患者可以得到合适的专业帮助。所以我开始建立这个双语的网站来帮助大家认识抑郁症。

在美国有大约两千万的人患有抑郁症。他们来自社会的各个层面。虽然他们大多数都能得到成功的治疗，但无知和偏见阻碍了他们去寻求专业的帮助。在中国目前还没有正式的统计结果，但十分之一（也就是一亿四千万）应该是保守的估计。而且那里社会的无知和偏见更加厉害。
